Smart Start

I love waking up early in the morning because that I means I get to start my day with a healthy breakfast. Did you know eating breakfast is better for weight loss than skipping it? Well…that’s because it jump starts your metabolism after being a state of “fasting” during the night. Even though you don’t intentionally fast, your body begins to metabolize food slower.

Benefits of Eating Breakfast:

– After you sleep, eating breakfast revs your metabolism to start burning calories for the day
– provides more strength and endurance for phsyical activities
Improved concentration and performance for work
-Breakfast will provide a content stomach, so you will not be inclined to pig out for lunch and eat more than usual later in the day
-Studies show that people who do not eat breakfast are more resistant to insulin than others who do eat breakfast.
-If you have a healthy breakfast, your diet will have a higher level a necessary vitamins and minerals
-Studies show people lose more weight if you start your day off with a healthy breakfast.
-Breakfast foods are delicious, so you’re missing out if you don’t eat them (:

Healthy options that I love:
-A veggie omlet with a side of whole-wheat toast
English muffin with eggs and lowfat cheese
-A smoothie made with fruit and yogurt
Oatmeal made with low fat milk and nuts or fruit
-Greek yogurt
Peanut butter and banana sandwich
Eggwhites and peanut butter, call me crazy, but it’s delicious and protein packed!

All of these meals are really easy to make and take less than 5-10 minutes to prepare.

If you’re looking to lose weight, I would suggest having protein shakes for breakfast, they provide a large amount of protein while being low in carbs, fats, sugar, and calories. My favorite types are vanilla and chocolate. I add fruity flavors to my vanilla and peanutbutter to chocolate.

Do you not have time to make breakfast? Are you always rushing out the door, so you HAVE to stop at McDonalds. Even if you have to go to a fast food restaurant, a coffeee shop, or even a smoothie shop for breakfast, you are bound to find a healthy option. It may not be calling your name, but it will be better for you in the long run. Many people associate fast food with bad food, only because they get the junk that is promoted. Most fast food restaurants promote their fattening food because that’s what TASTES good, but the funny thing is…if you begin to eat healthier, your body will recognize it really doesn’t like greasy and fatty food with symptoms of stomach aches, head aches, bloating, and weight gain.

If you don’t have time to look up restaurant nutrition, look at the options I provide below, or you can always look up eat this not that restaurant guides. I find them quite entertaining because you can see how crazy- bad or good-some of the food nutrition is at restaurants.

McDonalds- oatmeal without brown sugar, or egg mcmuffins
Starbucks-whole wheat bagel or spinach and feta cheese wraps, perfect oatmeal or yogurt parfaits
Dunkin’ Donuts- Egg and Cheese on an English Muffin
Subway- egg white and cheese sandwiches

  1. I can’t function without a good breakfast. It’s a great motivator on my runs too – the faster I run, the sooner I get done and get to eat my delicious breakfast! Overnight oats are my go-to no-fail!

    1. Hah! I have that exact same feeling wen I decide to do morning treadmill workouts in the winter!! I don’t know how people get through their days without breakfast, especially in school because doing work makes my brain hungry (: thanks for coming by!

  2. Breakfast is definitely my favorite meal of the day! And after going on the Dukan Diet a while ago I really understand that my body needs protein in the morning, or oats. These foods keep me going for much longer and I rarely get the shakes I used to when I ate too many carbs. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

    1. That’s so true, oatmeal is definitely a go to food if I need a lasting and satisfying meal in the morning, or eggs with toast! They both will keep your blood sugar from spiking and keep you full because they are whole grains that provide sufficient needs for the body. I’m glad you came to my blog, have a great weekend!
